ASCE chapter wins top award

ASCE chapter wins top award South Dakota State University engineering students have been recognized as the nation's best and brightest.

The SDSU student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has received the Ridgeway Award, distinguishing it as the top ASCE student chapter for 1998. SDSU will accept the award at the ASCE national convention in Charlotte, NC in October.

This is the second time in three years that a South Dakota engineering school has won the Ridgeway Award; the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology won it in 1996. With 250 engineering schools in the nation, it is remarkable that South Dakota schools have brought this award home twice in such a short timespan.

Chris Kinney and Bill Parsons of Vermillion are members of the SDSU ASCE chapter.
