South Dakota Public Radio tops goal

South Dakota Public Radio tops goal South Dakota Public Radio raised $42,240 during its Membership Week pledge drive in April and gained 227 new members.

The total beat the goal for the week-long drive by $12,240. In addition, 602 people called to pledge and more than 700 people entered the Membership Week Sweepstakes, sponsored by Friends of South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

Five lucky winners were selected in the Sweepstakes on Saturday:

Grand Prize: Ruth Yellow Hawk of Rapid City won two coach airline tickets to the U.S. city of her choice within the 48 contiguous states served by Northwest Airlines plus four nights double occupancy hotel accommodations, donated by AAA Travel Agency.

Second Prize: Nancy Clay of Volin won a one-night stay at the Black Hills Hideaway Bed and Breakfast near scenic Deadwood.

Second Prize: The Rev. Howard Campbell of Springfield won a Black Hills Gold pocket watch from Landstrom's Original Black Hills Gold creations.

Third Prize: Bette Johnson of Brookings won a selection of CDs.

Third Prize: Donna Fjelstad of Fort Pierre won a South Dakota Public Radio tote bag filled with Public Broadcasting-related merchandise.
