The Bluffs Senior men's golf
May 5 was a bad day for birdies, even the ones that can fly! Even pars were hard to find on a cool, cloudy, breezy sky with intermittent showers, for the 20 seniors who came for lunch and waited around to make the 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The weather brightened a little and seven teams of three were able to almost escape the rain and complete the round on the front nine. The lowest score was recorded by Shorty Hanson, Pat Boyle and Vern Lambert with a 39; while there was a three way tie at 42 by Lloyd Helseth, Don Goebel and Quentin Oleson; Ron Brown, Cal Peterson and Vern Holter; and Pete Berglund, Jim Reed and Ted VanBruggen.
Loren Carlson's team was out of the running for a prize, but he did make a 40 foot downhill putt on #9 for a par! Pross is out of the prediction business after that faulty promise last week. It can be assured, however, the seniors will return next Tuesday for a good meal at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. All senior golfers are encouraged to join in the fun.
