University High School operated out of The University of South Dakota from 1920 through 1946. It was based in the second floor of the old science building which later burned.
The school was designed to give teaching experience to USD education students who taught classes two days a week under the supervision of the regular faculty. The four grade levels freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors numbered less than 100 and most came from the rural areas.
The program of studies, as it was called, included English, speech and Latin, general math and algebra, civics, world and American history, economics, biology, physics, business training, homemaking, shop, chorus, band and physical education. Extracurricular activities included debate, declam and a junior class play.
This will be the eighth annual reunion for University High School.
