USD groundbreaking for new addition is May 27 The University of South Dakota will break ground for a new addition to the USD Alumni and Foundation Center on Thursday, May 27 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to the groundbreaking.
The Alumni and Foundation Center houses two organizations � USD Alumni Association and the USD Foundation. The Alumni Association unites alumni in a close bond of fellowship, advances purposes of university and promotes united and constructive action by the alumni on behalf of the university.
The USD Foundation provides private financial resources for the university, in order to increase the excellence of the educational experience provided by USD, with the goal of creating the best small public university in the nation emphasizing excellence in teaching.
Welfl Construction of Yankton will serve as the general contractor. The project is designed by Architecture, Inc. of Sioux Falls, which also designed the highly successful renovation of USD's Old Main building. The work will include an addition of 3,340 square feet of finished space and additional storage space to the USD Alumni and Foundation Center at 110 N. Dakota Street in Vermillion, as well as renovation of the existing building.
Among features of the new facility will be a "Legacy Room" available for conferences and special events, a telemarketing center and additional office and meeting space for the Alumni Association and USD Foundation.
