Pump 'n Stuff teener team opens season The Vermillion Pump 'n Stuff teener baseball team, coached by Michael Anderson and Ryan Sevening, opened the season last week in Yankton splitting two games.
In their first game of the season Wednesday night, against Yankton-Carda, Pump 'n Stuff came out ready to run. Taking advantage of many walks by the Yankton pitchers, the team stole many bases and scored many runs. Rob Schaack, the starting pitcher, opened the game by striking out five of the first six batters. Then Tyler Brown finished the game off by adding six more strike outs. The highlight of the game was BJ Campbell's bases loaded double that hit the fence. The final score was 11-0.
In their second game of the season, on Thursday night, Pump 'n Stuff struggled against Crofton B. Pump 'n Stuff played good defense in the first inning, but after that Crofton's bats came alive. Crofton went on to score 18 runs while Pump 'n Stuff only managed to sneak in five. Pitchers for Vermillion were BJ Campbell, Max Swanson and Adam Brunick.
