SBDC staff members receive certification Several staff members of the South Dakota Small Business Development Center (SBDC) based at The University of South Dakota have earned certification from the National Development Center (NDC). The staff members were certified as economic development finance professionals, a title given to individuals who successfully complete an economic development finance training series conducted by the NDC.
The following SBDC individuals were certified: Kelly Weaver of Aberdeen; Christine Martin of Pierre; Duane Fladland of Rapid City; Rey Gonzales and Mark Slade of Sioux Falls; Wade Druin of Vermillion; Belinda Engelhart of Watertown; and Troy Grovenburg of Yankton.
Each SBDC employee received certification after passing written reviews of each course during the four-week series. Training was held in the following areas: credit analysis, real estate financing, loan packaging, deal structuring and negotiation, and the creation and implementation of development programs.
The NDC, a New York based non-profit corporation, specializes in economic development training and technical assistance in economic development. The NDC provides training to city and state governments, public agencies, professional organizations and community-based organizations.
