Sports Fest teaches skills, safety The annual Sports Fest offered a variety of outdoor activities for youth age 8 to 18 June 12 at the Clay County Park Sportsmen's Club. Sponsored by the Clay County 4-H Shooting Sports Club under the auspices of the National Rifle Association with major funding from the NRA Foundation and the South Dakota 4-H Foundation, Sports Fest is designed to teach kids both skills and safety as they venture outdoors. Activities included rifle marksmanship, trap shooting, archery, outdoor safety and firearm safety. Above, Trooper Scott Fratzke of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, who was off duty but volunteered his knowledge for the Sports Fest, hands out ammunition to John Lindstrom who was taking part in target practice during the day's events.
