Vermillion Post #1 wins Elk Point doubleheader by Jim Prosser "As a team, we took a giant step forward both offensively and defensively," according to Coach Schwiesow. "Playing some of the larger 'A'schools the past weekend helped us in our preparation for our Region games."

In game one, Tom Dorsey pitched a complete six innings giving up seven hits (two in the first four) and five runs, while striking out five and surrendering two walks.

The team�s offense was �awesome� with 18 hits and 20 runs recorded, including two home runs by Tim Broderson and Dorsey�s own contributing HR.

Leading the scoring was Troy Rickord with five and James Ofstehage and Nick Mayer scoring four runs each.

Winning pitcher: Dorsey � six innings.

Losing pitcher: Ross Knutson � six innings.

In the second game, the winning pitcher was Matt Knutson who struck out four, walked two and give up five runs in another �complete game� effort for the team. A six run second inning was all he needed to record a 9 to 5 victory.

Tim Broderson and Troy Rickord had back-to-back home runs. Nick Mayer was two for four and scored two runs as did Rickord. The team had 10 hits, six walks and no errors. In the double header, Coach Devin was able to play everyone on the roster. The season record now stands at 5-7.
