Shumaker named employee of the month His helpfulness, dedication to school service, and ability to handle a number of tasks have earned Tim Shumaker of Vermillion the July Career Service Employee of the Month Award at The University of South Dakota.
Shumaker, a senior programmer analyst in the Business Research Bureau (BRB) at the USD School of Business since 1990, was honored during a recent ceremony on campus. USD President James W. Abbott honored Shumaker with a plaque and a monetary award for his service to USD.
"I like the flexibility and diversity of my position the best," Shumaker said. "We are constantly doing something different. The diversity of the job is really nice."
BRB Administrative Assistant Nancy Nelson nominated Shumaker, based on his personality and willingness to do several things at the same time. "Whether it is as simple as plugging in a cord or more difficult tasks such as handling a network problem, Tim is always helpful and courteous. He is a very valued and dedicated member of the staff," she said.
President Abbott cited Shumaker for his dedication to his work. "Tim puts his heart into his effort and an effort into his work," he said.
Shumaker, originally of Harrisburg, and his wife Sandra have two children: Elisa, four and Mathia, six.
