The tournament, sponsored by the Dakota Breeze Soccer Club, doubled in size from a year ago when only 10 teams participated. Venues for the event this year were at Cotton Park, the high school and Barstow Park. Games were played continuously throughout the day on Saturday and most all day Sunday. Over 40 games were played both days.
Many local residents turned out to watch the games at each of the locations as Vermillion became host to a sporting event that has recently been receiving much national attention. And with added attention to soccer at the high school, club, and university levels here in Vermillion, there should be many opportunities for spectators and players to enjoy soccer for some time to come.
