Stephen Russell awarded Presidential Scholarship Stephen Russell, Beresford, has been awarded a $3,000 Presidential Scholarship by Le- Tourneau University, in Longview, TX, announced Dr. Alvin O. Austin, president.
Russell is a 1999 graduate of Vermillion Senior High School.
The Presidential Scholarship is worth up to $12,000 over Russell's college career. According to Austin, the scholarship "reflects Stephen's outstanding high school grade point average and superior SAT scores. Additionally Presidential Scholars must evidence academic promise, Christian leadership and extracurricular activity."
The $3,000 is renewable each year.
Russell intends to attend LeTourneau in the fall, where he will major in Aeronautical Science-Design Technology. Following completion of his university studies he hopes to become an aircraft designer.
He is the son of David and Carmen Howard, Beresford, and Bill and Dana Russell, Olathe, KS.
LeTourneau University is a nationally recognized private nondenominational Christian university based in Longview, TX. Additional educational centers are located in Dallas, Houston and Tyler.
The university offers almost 50 degree programs in aeronautical science, business, education, engineering and technology, the liberal arts and the sciences. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to ward associates, bachelor's and master's degrees.
