USD hosts students for Upward Bound Several local high school and post secondary students are among the 56 South Dakota and Nebraska students attending the 1999 Upward Bound program at The University of South Dakota.
Upward Bound, a program for low income disadvantaged students, is held at USD for six weeks beginning the first part of June through the middle of July. Students stay in the USD residence halls while they receive academic training, individual counseling and experience campus life.
The Upward Bound program is one of four TRIO programs, which focuses on dedicating educational opportunities to students who may not receive the support or preparation to achieve their goals.
Participants in this year's program include Vermillion students Latisha Morgan and Zonnie Oakie.
