Vermillion man claims winner in Powerball Gary Johnson of Vermillion has claimed the second of two $100,000 prizes from the Wednesday, June 30 Powerball drawing.
Johnson purchased his ticket at the Hy-Vee Food Store in Vermillion. He claimed his prize July 6.
LaVonne Liester of Valley Springs also claimed a $100,000 prize. She and Johnson both correctly picked all five numbers for the drawing correctly � but not the Powerball � to win the $100,000 prize.
A 21-year-old Brainerd, MN woman claimed the $78.8 million Powerball jackpot at lottery headquarters July 1. Farrah Slad held the only winning ticket for the June 30 drawing, which had a jackpot worth $150 million if taken over 25 years. She chose to collect all the money in a "cash option" lump sum worth $78.8 million. She will receive $50.4 million after state and federal tax withholding, said lottery director George Andersen said.
The winning numbers drawn June 30 were 5, 10, 12, 20, 40 and the Powerball was 3.
