Johnson staff will visit Clay County Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) announced Aug. 4 that Mitch Stewart, staff assistant in his Sioux Falls office, will hold a Clay County Economic Development Day in Vermillion.
Stewart will meet with several county officials, including the Sheriff's office and University of South Dakota administrators on Friday, Aug. 27.
"Economic Development Day helps me assess the resources available in local communities as well as identify potential areas of growth and long-term development," Johnson said. "Each county faces unique challenges and opportunities for growth. Looking at local trends helps me focus on the things I can do in Washington to better serve the Main Street business communities of South Dakota."
While in Vermillion, Stewart will visit several local businesses to focus on current business trends and community resources. He will then forward the comments and concerns of Clay County residents to Johnson in Washington.
Johnson said that South Dakotans should also feel free to call, write or visit his service offices in Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, Rapid City or Washington D.C. to share their concerns. South Dakotans may also call Johnson's office toll-free at 1-800-537-0025.
