Ten members participate in 4-H contests in Vermillion The Clay County 4-H Demonstration and Illustrated Talk Contests, were held Friday, July 30 at the 4-H Center in Vermillion.
Ten members participated in the local contest.
Receiving purple ribbons in the Illustrated Talk area were: Nancy Heine of Vermillion, "A Salute to the Red, White and Blue"; Katie Strom, Beresford, "Is It a Fairy Tale Come True?"; Zach Holoch, Vermillion, "A Note to Remember"; Emily Miller, Wakonda, "A Tale of a Hairy Hare"; and Tabitha Hubert, Vermillion, "Ready, Aim, Smile".
Blue ribbons were awarded to: Andy Peterson, Wakonda, "Snake Information", Angela Rydell, Vermillion, "Terrific Tornado Tips" and Mitchell Rydell, Vermillion, "Curious About Calcium".
Demonstration contestants receiving purple ribbons were: Ariel Begley, Vermillion, "Well Built Stilts", and Ellen Kennedy, Vermillion, "The Finishing Touch".
Purple ribbon winners will advance to State Fair competition in Huron Aug. 31 through Sept. 6. Judges for this year's local contest were Roberta Stoebner of Olivet and Pat Harts, Yankton.
