VHS students attend SDSCA convention Aug. 2-4 Vermillion High School students attended the 12th annual state convention of South Dakota Student Council Association (SDSCA) which was held in Huron on Aug. 2, 3 and 4. The SDSCA convention included over 250 students and advisors from 23 schools across the state.
"I believe that the convention gives student council members a great opportunity to create a network for sharing ideas and building relationships. These resources are key to being a great leader," said Vicky Lio, 1998-99 southeast region vice president.
Included with the activities of the SDSCA convention was the election of the SDSCA state and regional officers for the up-coming school year. Elected to 1999-2000 SDSCA southeast region offices from Vermillion High School are President Vicky Lio, Vice President Phil Stewart and Representative Andrew Knutson. Also attending the convention from Vermillion High School were freshmen Britt Fremstad, Chris Berry and Michelle Morse, sophomores Deepti Naik, Phil Stewart, Andrew Knutson and Craig Bierle, junior Lindsay Iverson, and seniors Jon Spader, Courtney Nelsen and Allison Knutson. The SDSCA offers training in leadership skills which is designed to turn high school and middle school students leaders into lifelong leaders.
