Artists are sought for touring arts The South Dakota Arts Council (SDAC) is seeking professional artists to participate in its statewide Touring Arts program.
The deadline for making application is Oct. 1.
The Touring Arts program helps make the arts available in all regions of the state by providing funds to non-profit organizations to present performing and visual arts in their local communities.
"Artists representing a variety of arts disciplines are featured in the Touring Arts roster," said Michael Pangburn, assistant director.
Professional artists, arts organizations, and educational institutions in the various arts disciplines are eligible to apply. Applicants must be willing to tour South Dakota with performances, exhibits or specific programs for a two-year period, July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2002. Artists are selected for participation in the Touring Arts program by panels of in-state and out-of-state experts on the basis of the quality of the artist's work.
Application guidelines and an application form are printed in SDAC's current Guide to Programs. To receive a copy of the guide or to ask specific questions, write the South Dakota Arts Council at 800 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501 or call 605-773-3131 or 800-423-6665 (in-state toll free).
The South Dakota Arts Council is the governing board of the Office of Arts, a state agency of the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs. The Arts Council's mission is to provide grants and services to artists and arts organizations throughout the state, with major funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the State of South Dakota.
