Beresford falls to JV Lady Tanagers by Jim Prosser The Vermillion JV Lady Tanagers pulled away in the second half to shoot down the Beresford junior varsity Watchdogs 38-19 in girls basketball Sept. 7 at Beresford.
Nikki Mollet had 12 points and pulled in 5 rebounds in 2 quarters. Ashley Bjorkman had 8 points.
The Lady Tanagers trailed 8-6 after the first quarter, led 17-10 at halftime, and then held a lead of 32-15 going into the fourth quarter.
�We started out slowly, but started the second quarter with some aggressive play which allowed us to go on an 11 to 2 run,� said VHS Coach Troy Terronez. �Our intensity in the full court pressure defense sparked our offense as well.�
In the third period, Nikki Mollet sparked the 15 point Tanager quarter score contributing 9 points, 3 steals and 4 rebounds.
�Her activity on both offense and defense was awesome,� Coach Terronez said.
VHS now has a record of 2-1, while BHS fell to 2-2.
VHS made 10 of 20 from the line while the Watchdogs connected on 4 of 17 free throw tries.
