Buckin’ bulls, mutton bustin’, dancing all part of entertainment for sixth annual Bull-A-Rama

Buckin' bulls, mutton bustin', dancing all part of entertainment for sixth annual Bull-A-Rama by M. Jill Sundstrom Action and entertainment are guaranteed Sept. 11 as the Coyote Country Rodeo Club hosts its sixth annual Bull-A-Rama at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Vermillion.

Hy-Vee will host a Bull-A-Rama kick-off event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Kids can turn in their coloring contest entries (see this week�s Broadcaster) and every entrant will get a free candy bar. The winners will receive a $50 savings bond. Kids can also register for the mutton bustin� contest and a bull will be on display.

Bull-A-Rama bull riding � the �No Guts, No Glory Eliminator Tour� � begins at 5 p.m. Twenty professional bull riders will go against stock provided by McKay Rodeo Co. of O�Neill, NE, in two go-rounds. They will be competing for $2,500 in prize money.

The evening�s action also includes amateurs � five each � in the Businessmen�s and Teener events. A Women�s Bull Riding event � new this year � is also on the program.

Darin �Kamikaze� Reed, Ottawa, KS, will be this year�s bull fighter, while Tim Schinzel of Nebraska will be the barrelman.

East River Cowboys will provide live �chute-out� music during the Bull-A-Rama.

As the cowboys compete for cash prizes, 15 youngsters, age 4-7, have the chance to win a buckle and ribbons in the annual Mutton Bustin� contest. A framed print, titled �Mutton Bustin� � by artist Ray Kelly, will also be a first-place prize.

Admission for Saturday�s Bull-A-Rama is $7 for adults at the gate, $5 in advance, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for children 6-10. Children under 6 are free. Advance tickets are available at Circle G and JoDeans, both in Yankton, and Hy-Vee and Jones� Food Center, Vermillion.

Concessions on the grounds will be provided by JoDeans and Hy-Vee.

A Bull-A-Rama dance, featuring music by East River Cowboys, will begin at 9 p.m. at the Varsity Club in Vermillion. Admission will be charged at the door.
