Ladies Golf and Bridge
Today was a day of highs and lows!
A record breaking high score for 24 hands of bridge was set by Pat Olson with a score of 6,470 points. Four times she had a two club opener and four times she bid and made a slam to reach our highest recorded score. Congratulations Pat!
Our other bridge winners for the afternoon were Lorraine Brunick, second, Deanne Christopherson, third, Ellie Davis, fourth and Connie Erickson, fifth.
Winning two pitch games was Margaret Melby while Virginia Jensen, Francis Mollet and Leone Christopherson each won a game apiece.
We welcomed visitors from both Vermillion and California. The wine winner was Jeanne Marshall. Taking home $5 were Margaret Connors, Robin Eiseninger and Peggy Mollet.
President Helen Brown read a selection titled "Life Begins at 80."
Most of us have a lot to look forward to. It might be a hole in one or a grand slam! Life is good here at The Bluffs!
Senior Mens League
On Tuesday, Sept. 14, 31 Seniors gave the front nine at The Bluffs a good try. It was chilly and windy but still a delightful day for golf. Our winners Dave Raabe, Mel Marcotte and Ray DeVilbiss came in with a par round of 36. Other winners were: at 39 Loren Carlson, Mo Marcotte and Vern Lambert; at 40 the teams of Sid Davis, Jim Reed and Ray Lynn; Don Baer, Don Mitchell and Jack Stewart; Elmer Mount, Duncan McGregor and Bob Lund; and Pete Berlund, Ken Beringer and Joe Conroy.
Putters, once again, get mention for shot of the day, including Mel Marcotte for a 33 foot putt on #7, Jim Reed for a 27 foot putt for birdie on #8, and Loren Carlson with a 39 foot putt on #9.
We invite all seniors to enjoy these nice Tuesdays 'til the season ends. The Bluffs course is in great shape, the food is fine and the conversation (and golf) are the best.
See you next Tuesday.
