Around the town by Emma Drissen In the next three week we will see Vermillion getting decked out for the holidays. Hard to believe it's almost November and only three weeks until our Holiday Open House! For some it might seem early to decorate for Christmas, but we are urging all businesses to be decorated and ready to light up their establishments on Sunday, Nov. 21. At 5 p.m. on that day Santa will flip the switch to light up Vermillion in all her holiday splendor. The sleigh rides, Santa, and all the strolling carolers will add to the festivities. We encourage all to start their gift lists and shop locally. Let's show our merchants how much we appreciate their being in Vermillion.
There is much planning already going into "Celebrate Vermillion." This is a family oriented, non-alcoholic New Year's Eve celebration held at the Coyote Student Center and the DakotaDome. There will be activities for all ages, entertainment and good eating! We hope you and your family and friends will ring in the year 2000 with us. The committee is still seeking volunteers fort he event. If you would like to help in any way, please call the Chamber office at 624-5571.
Our children of Vermillion will be "trick or treating" Sunday night, Oct. 31, so let's all watch for them so they will have a safe and fun Halloween. Enjoy your week!
