Boys, girls cross country teams compete in Yankton In a limited invitational meet at Yankton, Thursday, Sept. 23 with competition in both boys and girls divisions, varsity and JV, first runner across the finish line was Yankton's Ben Williams with a 17:14 clocking, while Vermillion's Eric Dehner placed second with a time of 17:39.
Jordan Thompson finished 10th, and John Ring was 17th in the boys division.
Other placers for the Tanagers were:
Tyler Engstrom 23rd, Shane Manning 24th, Leland Smith 29th, Ben Parsons 31st, Darryl Neufeld 32nd, Josh Kyte 33rd and James Clark 39th.
For the girls, Tanager placers were:
Cathy Plate fifth, Megan Griffith 11th, Natalie Tuetken 16th, Beth Pier 20th, and at 23rd, 24th, and 25th were Angie Rydell, Teresa Ring and Emily Pier respectively.
JV Tanager girls finishers were:
Vicki Lio sixth, Carly Bernard ninth and Amritha Subramanium 11th.
Middle school boys competing were Mitch Bierle eighth and Justin Manning 12th. The VMS girls were represented by Sarah Platz at seventh.
