Clubs Senior Citizens Center
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, 48 card players � eight pinochle, 15 pitch, two skip-bo and 23 bridge � enjoyed both good and not so good cards. The games were enjoyed by one and all. Playing time starts at 1 p.m. Come join a group.
Bridge prizes went to Marlys Miller, high; Irene Rabusch, second; Shirley Riehle, third; Leona Krugger, blind bogie and Stella Anker, low.
Refreshments were furnished by Adeline Isaacson and Shirley Riehle.
Sons of Norway Lodge
Lillehammer Lodge I-633 met Sept. 21, 1999 at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Yankton with Vice President Earl Reese presiding in the absence of President Marvis Tronvold. Fifty members and three guests (Jean Christensen, Shirley Christensen and Verline Gunderson) were in attendance.
Trustee Clarice Holm presented silver and gold walking award medals to Shirley Juracek and Carole Nordby and a gold medal to Louise Seger.
Vice President Earl Reese presented new member recruitment pins to Louise Seger and Earl and Diane Reese.
A get well card was signed by all present and will be sent to President Marvis Tronvold who had bypass heart surgery Sept. 20.
A sample of Norwegian jewelry was displayed along with price listings and order forms.
Social Director Bev Lane announced the Eighth Annual Scandinavian Fest will be held at the Canton School Armory on Oct. 9 f rom 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with admission of $1 per person. A Swedish band, ethnic foods, arts and demonstrations with be featured.
Everyone was encouraged to submit Norwegian recipes for the to-be-published cookbook.
A fund raiser featuring decorative holiday baskets will be held in October during the lodge meeting.
Sharing yesterdays' Norwegian memories and mementos (serious or comical) will be part of the October lodge meeting.
Orvin Oien, Nick Saci, Don Frasch, Earl Reese and Marvis Tronvold will serve on the nomination committee and a ballot will be presented at the November lodge meeting.
People Bingo and Demonstrations of Cultural Skills will be the lodge program at the November meeting.
Louise Seger requested members to make donations to the Nordic Daneens Fund.
A door prize given by Orvin Oien was won by Dean Nordby.
Entertainment involved a number of the lodge members demonstrating Norwegian baking/cooking with everyone enjoying all the delicious samples.
Next meeting will be held Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at the usual meeting place. All are welcome.
Centerville Christian Women's Club
The Centerville Christian Women's Club invites all the women of the area to its brunch on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 9:30 a.m. The club will be meeting in the Pascale Memorial Hall in Centerville. The "Antique Dinnerware" will be the special feature. Joanne Lappegard of Alcester will be showing special table arrangements. Anna Mae Nelson of Centerville will be singing special musical arrangements. A special speaker that morning will share how to be "Arranged Forever."
