DARE Report by Officer Chad Gillen Changing beliefs about drug use This week in D.A.R.E. your student learned how family, media, personal and peer pressure can affect them. The specific focus of the lesson was on peer pressure and how powerful it can be on young people. Also, the result of a recent national survey on alcohol use among teenagers was shared with class. This helped the class realize that most teenagers do not drink alcohol.
Listed below are several topics for discussion to help you reinforce what your child learned:
* Name two of the four types of peer pressure. (Friendly, Teasing, Indirect and Heavy)
* Name two of the four sources of pressure. (Personal, Family, Media and Peer)
* How many seventh-graders out of the 100 reported having been drunk from beer, wine or other alcoholic beverages? (14)
