DARE Report by Officer Chad Gillen Managing stress without taking drugs This week in D.A.R.E. your students learned that stress refers to physical or mental strain felt about a situation or event. They learned that stress is a normal part of our daily lives, and how we deal with it determines whether or not it will be harmful. They learned some positive ways to deal with stress without using drugs.
Listed below are several topics for discussion to help you reinforce what your child learned:
* Discuss with your child some of the things in their life that cause them stress.
* What can they do to reduce the stress caused by these events? (Exercise, talk to friends or family about problems, work on ways to eliminate the stressor.)
Please feel free to contact me if you wish to attend your child's D.A.R.E. class: Officer Chad J. Gillen, Vermillion Police Department, phone 677-7070.
