Eighth-graders up record after win With a 28-12 win over Bon Homme, Vermillion's eighth-grade football team upped their record to 4-0 and will close out their season as they travel to Yankton on Oct. 19. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. at the Yankton Middle School field.

In the first quarter against Bon Homme, B.J. Campbell scored on a 61-yard run. The two-point conversion run failed. Trevor Garrett scored in the second quarter on a 14-yard run. The two-point conversion run also failed. Garrett also scored in the third quarter on a two-yard pass from Byron Thomas. The two-point conversion run was scored by Jeremy Yankton. Campbell also scored on a 40-yard run, with the two-point conversion run successfully completed by Garrett.
Jared Burcham rushed eight times for 17 yards.Campbell rushed seven times for 132 yards. Max Meyer rushed two times for 15 yards.

"It was another nice win for our guys," said Coach Lauren Tolsma. "We did not play exceptionally well in the first half, but ut things together in the second half and finished out the game playing good, solid football. We're looking forward to the season-ending game at Yankton on Oct. 19."
"I was pleased with the play of our line in the second half," added Casey O'Connor. "We were sluggish in the first half but played much harder in the second half. We'll have to put together a full game at Yankton on Oct. 19 if we expect to win."
