Golfers lose season final on Brandon Valley course The Vermillion High School golf team came up short in its final match of the 1999 boys season with a score of 161 while the Brandon Valley Lynx scored 157 to win the varsity division played at the Brandon golf course on Thursday, Oct. 12.
Tanager scores were: Derrick Brown 36 (medalist); Brett Hogen 38; Aaron Baedke 43; Rob Schaack 44; Tyler Brown 46; and Ryan Nelson 46. Team total scores were determined by using the best four of six individual scores.
"This was an extra match, scheduled for after the regional and before the state tournament," said Coach Kirk Hogen. "It was hoped that the competition would be an aid to the players in state. Also, the younger members of the team have an opportunity to participate in one more match before the weather conditions deteriorate."
The junior varsity finished with 181 points to Brandon Valley's 157. Individual J.V. scores were: Matt Hollingsworth 40; Brad Schaack 45; Todd Anderson 47; Chris Moen 49; Joel Anderson 52; Matt Deibert 56; and Charles Odson 58. The sum of the four lowest scores determined the final team score.
