JV Lady Tanagers defeat Alcester-Hudson The Vermillion JV Lady Tanagers overpowered the Alcester-Hudson Cubs 46-21 in girls basketball Sept. 21 at Vermillion in a game where the Lady Tanagers held the Cubs to only seven field goals.
Abby Moore had 13 points and eight rebounds.
�Abby Moore had an outstanding game offensively and defensively,� said VHS Coach Troy Terronez. �Not only was she a scoring threat inside, but she also used her feet to gain position for a charge.�
The Lady Tanagers jumped ahead 10-2 after the first quarter, led 21-9 after the second quarter, and then led 38-15 going into the final period.
The Lady Tanagers forced 21 Alcester-Hudson varsity turnovers to give a boost to the victory.
�Our team is really coming together,� said Coach Terronez. �The older players are showing nice leadership qualities and the younger players are maturing as well.�
VHS improved its record to 7-1, while Alcester-Hudson varsity dropped to 2-5.
VHS hit 2 of 6 from the line. The Alcester-Hudson varsity made 7 of 11 free throw tries.
VHS held a 31-19 edge on the boards.
