Missionaries welcomed following return home The Vermillion Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently welcomed home two missionaries.
Spencer McCombs of Centerville and Micah Thompson of Vermillion have spent the past two years serving Christian missions. McCombs served in the Philippines and Thompson went to the California Sacramento mission.
In a report to the Vermillion Branch, Elder McCombs talked about the people of the Philippines and the love he developed for them while serving among them. He talked of the growth in his own testimony of Jesus Christ and the humbling experience it is to serve a mission.
Thompson reported on Sept. 12 and spoke of the increased faith he gained while serving in the Sacramento area. He worked among many different ethnic and socio-economic groups.
"My mission was a time to spend focusing on other people's needs instead of my own," said Thompson. "It changed my perspective on many things."
McCombs returned to his sophomore year at Brigham Young University. Thompson plans to work in the Vermillion area and attend the university beginning winter semester.
