Tanager golfers lose triangular at Elmwood In a triangular meet involving Sioux Falls O'Gorman Knights and Lennox Orioles, the VHS golf team came in last with a score of 181 while O'Gorman scored 160 to win and Lennox finished with 174 for second.
The varsity match was played on the back nine of Elmwood Golf course in Sioux Falls on Sept. 28.
Tanager scores were: Derrick Brown 42; Aaron Baedke 43; Brett Hogen 47; Nathan Boots 49; and Rob Schaack 49. Team total scores were determined by using the best four of five individual scores.
"Not being familiar with the surroundings and perhaps unprepared for the weather conditions probably effected the Tanagers' scoring," said Coach Kirk Hogen.
The junior varsity placed second with 177 points to O'Gorman's 176 with Lennox finishing third with the meet played on the Elmwood "east" nine.
Individual JV scores were: Todd Anderson 40; Ryan Nelson 43; Matt Hollingsworth 45; Tyler Brown 49; and Bo Nelson 52.
The season dual record fell to 5-3 wit the Big Eight Conference scheduled for Sept. 30 as the next competition, and the regional tournament to be played at Elmwood on Oct. 4. Vermillion has been moved into region IIA which consists of the four Sioux Falls schools, Brandon Valley, Lennox and Yankton.
