Tanagers drop lead over Madison 36-31 by David Lias The Vermillion freshman Lady Tanagers lost a second-half lead and were defeated by the Madison Bulldogs 36-31 in girls basketball Sept. 28 at Madison.
VHS had led by two at halftime.
�This was a defensive game all of the way,� said VHS Coach Marilyn Martyn. �The girls played an outstanding fourth quarter as a team but ran out of minutes and came up short at the end.�
The Lady Tanagers fell behind 7-6 at the end of the first period, went into the locker room up 11-9 at halftime, and then trailed 23-19 going into the final period.
VHS saw its record fall to 3-3, while the MHS freshman upped its mark to 5-1.
VHS connected on 0 of 0 free throw tries while the Bulldogs hit 4 of 8 free throw tries.
