USD art exhibit scheduled Oct. 1-24 A major exhibition of recent prints and graphic design works by art department alumni will be exhibited Oct. 1-24 at The University of South Dakota.
This USD Print and Graphics Exhibition, sponsored by the USD Department of Art and University Art Galleries, will include approximately 40 works submitted by over 25 of USD's graduates who are active professional artists. The exhibition will be on view in the Main Gallery of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The exhibition is the first of four alumni shows scheduled for the 1999-2000 University Galleries season to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. Other exhibits will feature alumni painters in November, photographers in January, and ceramists and sculptors in March.
The October print and graphics exhibition will be complimented by a sales show of prints in Gallery 110, Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. Works for sale include prints by a number of nationally noted artists who have conducted workshops at USD. Proceeds from the sale will allow current print students to attend regional and national conferences.
As part of the observance of the 25th anniversary of the Fine Arts Center, the Main Gallery and Gallery 110 were fully remodeled during the past summer. The renovated spaces afford a hospitable environment for contemporary exhibitions such as the USD Print and Graphics Alumni Show.
