Around the Town By Emma Drissen Welcome November! What better way to "kick-off" the month than with the S.D. State High School Football Playoffs. The DakotaDome will be holding the events Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5 and 6. The Ambassador Committee of the Chamber will again be hosting a hospitality room at the Dome for the coaches and media.
Vermillion will be bustling with activity over the weekend as USD also hosts SDSU at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. The high school championship playoffs conclude Saturday night starting at approximately 8 p.m. Good luck to all teams and we in Vermillion extend a warm welcome to our visitors.
Vermillion's Holiday Open House "Home for the Holidays" is coming upon us very quickly. Activities will start at noon on Sunday, Nov. 21 with Santa arriving by sleigh downtown. Children can bring their "wish lists" to Santa in the lobby of Community First State Bank. There will also be sleigh rides, carolers strolling the streets, tours of the Austin-Whittemore House, free movies for the family, Washington St. Art Center activities and shopping, shopping, shopping downtown and Cherry Street.
At 5 p.m. Santa will flip the switch to turn on Vermillion's Christmas decorations. Let's all join in and celebrate the excitement of the holiday season!
