Baroque musicians to perform at Shrine Jed Went, Baroque flute, and the musicians of Musica ad Rhenum, a leading Baroque chamber ensemble from Utrecht, The Netherlands, will perform music by Bach and Handel at the Shrine to Music Museum on the campus of The University of South Dakota, Sunday afternoon, Nov. 14, at 2:30 p.m.
Musica ad Rhenum ("Music on the Rhine"), which played the first concert of its first U.S. tour at the museum in March 1998, is returning to Vermillion by popular demand, according to Andr� P. Larson, director of the museum. He noted that the group's first appearance was the highlight of the museum's 1997-1998 season.
Jed Wentz, who founded Musica ad Rhenum in 1990, has played as a flute soloist on concert tours and at festivals around the world. Other members of the ensemble perform regularly with a variety of Baroque orchestras, including Musica du Louvre in Paris, Musica Antiqua K�ln in Germany, and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.
Musica ad Rhenum records for Vanguard Classics. Their CDs have been hailed by European critics as "setting a new standard."
