Eicher receives Emmy Award Former Vermillion resident Michael Eicher, a videographer editor with the University of Wisconsin PBS station WHA-TV, attended the recent Emmy Awards ceremony in New York City.
During the ceremony, it was announced that the television documentary which he helped produce was the winner of a coveted Emmy Award.
Eicher, along with Kathy Bissen, producer, and Dave Iverson, co-producer, received Emmys on stage for the documentary The 30-Second Candidate in the category "Background/Analysis of a Single Current Story."
Eicher worked at The University of South Dakota PBS station KUSD-TV from 1980 to 1987. In 1987 he became associated with the University of Wisconsin PBS station.
The son of Charles and Dody Eicher of Vermillion, Eicher is a 1974 graduate of Vermillion High School and a 1985 graduate of USD. He and his wife, Laurie Sunde, also a USD graduate, live in Madison, WI.
