JV Lady Tanagers fall in fourth quarter The Vermillion JV Lady Tanagers fell victim to a fourth-quarter rally and were topped by the Parker Pheasants 36-30 in girls basketball Oct. 25 at Parker.
VHS had led by two after the third quarter.
Abby Moore scored 8 points, pulled down 4 rebounds and made 1 assist.
Abby Moore played some good basketball, and she showed some mental toughness, said VHS Coach Troy Terronez. She didnt get to rest, but she continued to be competitive.
The Lady Tanagers led 8-4 after the first quarter, went into the locker room up 18-12 at halftime, and then led 24-22 after the third period.
The girls played hard against a very physical team, said Coach Terronez. Their press gave us some problems in the fourth quarter, which gave them a quick four points to regain the lead. Our younger players adjusted, but they couldnt adjust to the physical play. We need to.
The loss dropped VHS to a record of 12-3, while Parker junior varsity improved to 11-4.
VHS hit 6 of 4 free throw tries while the Pheasants connected on 2 of 2 free throw tries.
