Workers took advantage of mild weather late last week and made progress on the Clay County Veterans Memorial being constructed on the grounds of the Clay County Courthouse. It will feature the three monuments donated to the city by the late Kenneth Mockler, the American flag, service flags for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and the veterans monument from Prentis Park. Local craftsmen will build the memorial, and should be able to continue work if the weather cooperates. Fund-raising is still under way to pay for the project. Individuals or organizations interested in making contributions to help pay for the memorial should contact
Mayor William Radigan.
