Students of the Month selected First National Bank in Vermillion has named Kathy Plate and Seth Nesselhuf as the VHS October Students of the Month. Plate and Nesselhuf were selected from faculty endorsements of seniors at Vermillion High School that demonstrate leadership in class and in their activities.
Plate's various extra-curricular activities include cross country, 4-H, Science Club, tutoring, weightlifting, Trinity Lutheran Youth Group, National Honor Society, and track. "No matter what she does, Kathy gives it her all," according to her faculty endorsement.
Her parents are Bruce and Ruby Plate and, as yet, she has not selected a college. Plate is leaning toward pre-med as a field of study. She recently placed 10th in the SD State Cross Country Meet.
Nesselhuf is currently involved in a unique project to restore bicycles for people in the Third World countries. Additionally, he is involved with Explorers, chorus, National Honor Society, Science Club, soccer and track.
His instructor indicated that he was "most impressed by his maturity and his respect for himself and others." Majoring in landscape architecture, possibly at the University of Minnesota is in the plans for Nesselhuf. Ed and Diane Nesselhuf are Seth's parents.
