Vermillion-Newcastle bridge roadway topic of meeting The Nebraska Department of Roads will hold a series of information meetings regarding the Northeast Nebraska Corridor Feasibility Studies. The meetings will be used to explain the studies and to receive public input. Meetings are scheduled as follows: Nov. 16, 2 to 4 p.m., 2206 Market Lane, Norfolk, NE; Nov. 16, 7 to 9 p.m., Wayne State College Student Center, 15th and Main, Wayne, NE; Nov. 17, 2 to 4 p.m., Newcastle Fire Hall 205 Mary St., Newcastle, NE; Nov. 17, 7 to 9 p.m., Marina Inn, 4th and B, South Sioux City, NE.
The studies are known as DPS-35-4(119) Norfolk, Wayne and Dakota City, DPS-57-4(111) Wayne to Vermillion-Newcastle Bridge, and S-81-4 (1012) Norfolk to Yankton.
The projects are economic-oriented studies, They will examine whether it's sensible to significantly improve highways in three corridors of northeastern Nebraska.
The three corridors under evaluation involve a four-lane roadway between Norfolk, Wayne and Dakota City, a two-lane roadway between Wayne and the proposed Vermillion-Newcastle Bridge, and a four-lane roadway along U.S. Highway 81 between Norfolk and the South Dakota border.
