With a tough defense in the second quarter, Vermillion allowed Madison to score only one point. The victory was a team effort with seven of the 10 players getting in the scoring column.
Mollet led the offensive attack scoring 11 points, followed by Gilkyson who had seven points, including the team's first three pointer of the season. Kristen Kitto had six points, while Joy added five. Sarah Merrigan and Nelson each added four points, with Dehner rounding out the scoring column with a basket. Heine, Lawrence and Michelle Buckanaga came off the bench to play some quality minutes for the team.
"This was a great way for the team to end the season. We've had the potential to win other tournaments throughout the year, but always fell short. I'm happy that the girls finally were able to play together and claim the championship," said Coach Iverson.
