Coyotes win two games at Augustana South Dakota improved its womens basketball record to 3-1 with a pair of wins in the Augustana Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Coyotes opened with a 67-61 win over Sioux Falls. USD came back the next day and posted a 73-57 victory over Colorado School of Mines.
Kelly Koepp paced the Coyotes against Sioux Falls with 21 points. Julia Frie finished with 18 points, followed by Heather Nelson and Melinda Oster with 13 and 11 points, respectively. USD, which trailed 38-37 at halftime, shot 41.5 percent from the field and held a 37-35 edge in rebounds. Koepp led in rebounds with eight and Dawn Sudbeck dished out four assists.
The Coyotes outscored Colorado School of Mines, 40-28, in the second half after holding a four-point margin (33-29) at halftime. Oster led the way with 16 points. Frie had 13 points and Koepp finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Alissa Koronkiewicz and Sudbeck had eight points apiece. The Coyotes enjoyed a 45-38 advantage in rebounds led by Koronkiewicz, who pulled down 13 boards.
South Dakota entertains Southwest State Saturday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.
