Alternative agriculture meeting planned Jan. 19 All producers interested in learning about alternative ag enterprises are invited to attend a program Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the Yankton County 4-H Center, 901 Whiting Drive in Yankton. This year's program will concentrate on alternative crops.
Featured speakers include David Welch � National Organic Crop Improvement Association, Thad Olsen � SD Rural Development, Amy Hempstead Gales � SD Value Added Office, Reed Stronsky � Edible Beans Producer, Eldon Nygaard � Valiant Vineyards at Vermillion, David Curry on NutriDense Corn and T. Eric Watts on GMOs in the market place. The program will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and registration and the program is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The U-C-Y Pork Producers will serve a pork loin dinner. Persons planning to attend the program should call their local county Extension office so meal arrangements can be made. The only charge is $5 to cover the noon lunch. This is an excellent opportunity to hear great speakers discuss changes in agriculture.
