Alumni, prospective students invited to February 2 lunch University of South Dakota alumni and friends, as well as any prospective students in the area, are invited to attend the USD Club of Sioux Falls luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at the Westward Ho Country Club in Sioux Falls.
During the luncheon, the USD Club will feature a presentation on the Missouri River Institute by USD Dean of Graduate Programs and Research Royce Engstrom. He will discuss how the university will develop and promote scholarly research, education, and public awareness related to the natural and cultural resources of the Missouri River basin.
In addition, Engstrom will note the institute goals of developing educational opportunities at all levels in subjects focusing on the Missouri River basin, creating an outreach program devoted to the Missouri River's resources for the academic community and the public, and supporting and promoting the ethnic heritage of the original native inhabitants and later settlers along the river, among others.
The USD Club of Sioux Falls held its first meeting last fall and will host luncheons twice in both spring and fall. The club, which was established by alumni in coordination with the USD Alumni Association, has organized a leadership group that includes chair Kersten Johnson, Dan Johnson, Broc Halseth, Kelly Maloney Gellerman, Jeff Post and USD Sioux Falls admissions recruiter Nichole Merkley.
