Blessen earns NCC award for third time For the third time this season, South Dakota senior forward Nathan Blessen, Columbus, NE, has been named North Central Conference Player of the Week.
Blessen averaged 26.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in leading the Coyotes to a 95-89 win over North Dakota on Friday and a 71-52 victory over North Dakota State on Saturday.
He shot 51.7 percent from the field (15-29) and was 20-for-22 from the free throw line for 90.9 percent. Blessen, who had a streak of 19 consecutive field goals made, stretching over three games, (Nebraska-Omaha, Northern Colorado, North Dakota) ranks 10th in USD school history with 1,285 points and he is fifth in career blocked shots with 60.
The Coyotes, ranked No. 5 in the NABC/Division II poll, will carry a 15-0 mark into Saturday's home game against Morningside. The Coyotes are the only unbeaten team in the North Central Conference with a 6-0 record.
