Bon Homme freshmen defeat Vermillion 29-21 by Jim Prosser The VHS freshmen Tanagers were downed by the Bon Homme Cavaliers 29-21 in boys basketball Jan. 11 at Tyndall as the Tanagers shot only 23 percent from the field.
Jon Brooks led the scoring with 9 points, Dan Holoch had 5 points, Nick Olson had 4 points, Drew Lawrence had 2 and Rob Schaak had 1 point to round out the scoring.
The score was 2-all at the end of the first period, the Tanagers trailed 13-8 after the second quarter, and then trailed 18-12 going into the fourth quarter.
�We didn�t come to play,� said Vermillion Coach Jason Huska. �Bon Homme came to play and it showed. We need to improve our intensity in order to be competitive.�
The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 1-3, while the BHS freshmen improved to 1-2.
Vermillion hit 2 of 5 three-pointers and connected on 1 of 6 from the line. The Tanagers sank 7 of 30 field goal attempts, while the BHS freshmen shot 9 of 25 from the field. The BHS freshmen hit 2 of 5 three-pointers and made 5 of 6 from the line.
