Hillenbrand Track Invite produces 12 meet records The Bill Hillenbrand Track and Field Invitational produced 12 meet records Friday and Saturday in the DakotaDome.
Leading the Coyotes was junior Tom Green, who established two meet records with winning performances in the 55 (6.35) and the 200 (22.04). Green held the old mark of 6.36 set last year, while Lionel McPhaull was the previous record-holder in the 200 with a 22.06 in 1997. Green's 55 clocking was also a national indoor provisional qualifying time.
Senior Steve Schmidt won the shot put with an NCAA provisional throw of 53' 6-1/2".
The USD women were tops in five events. Junior Sara Deckert took first in the 200 (25.65) and senior LaRae Klarenbeek won the 500 (1:19.99). In the 1,000, senior Stefanie Senn finished first (3:07.93), while junior Tonya Kneifl captured the high jump (5-4).
On Friday, the USD women won the distance medley relay in 12:33.13.
Six other meet records were set Saturday led by former USD all-American Chad Feeldy who won the one mile (4:12.59).
During Friday's action there were four meet records, including the USD men's distance medley relay team that finished first in 10:11.24.
The Coyotes had five second-place efforts: Sandy Pelkofer, pole vault (10' 9"); Pat Belling, 200 (22.42); Ryan Finley, 400 (50.32); Aaron Dykstra, long jump (22' 7"); and Bill Gassen, shot put (50' 9").
