JV Tanagers top Bon Homme 42-30 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion JV Tanagers topped the Bon Homme Cavaliers 42-30 in boys basketball Jan. 11 at Tyndall as the winners led after each quarter.
�Jeremy Cowman had a solid game, and Nick Olson contributed well off the bench,� said VHS Coach Lance Luitjens. �John Holoch played well with 3 steals and 7 points. Olson came off the bench scoring 10 points with 6 boards.�
The Tanagers jumped in front 10-4 after the opening period, led 25-16 at halftime, and then led 30-22 going into the final period.
VHS now has a record of 2-2, while BHS junior varsity fell to 1-6.
VHS hit 2 of 5 three-pointers and made 8 of 15 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 14 of 30 from the field, while the BHS junior varsity was 4 of 28 from the field. The BHS junior varsity sank 4 of 12 three-pointers and made 6 of 10 from the line.
A number of excellent individual efforts highlighted the win.
�We got good floor leadership from Cowman, who chipped in 11 points with 3 assists,� Coach Luitjens said.
