Nathan Blessen earns second NCC honor South Dakota senior forward Nathan Blessen, Columbus, NE, has been named North Central Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Blessen averaged 25.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in leading the Coyotes to an 86-49 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday and a 78-62 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday.
Against Nebraska-Omaha, Blessen set a USD single-game record for field goal percentage going 13-for-13 en route to 29 points. He scored 21 points against Northern Colorado. For the two games he shot 69.0 percent from the field making 20 of 29 from the floor.
Blessen ranks 14th in USD school history with 1,233 points and he is fifth in career blocked shots with 60.
The Coyotes, ranked No. 5 in the NABC/Division II poll, will carry a 13-0 mark into Friday's game at North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. The Coyotes, the only unbeaten team in the North Central Conference with a 4-0 record, travel to North Dakota State on Saturday.
