North Dakota teams win over USD women South Dakota will look to get back on the winning trail after dropping two NCC road games to North Dakota (94-59) and North Dakota State (72-58) last Friday and Saturday.
The Coyotes host Morningside this Saturday.
With North Dakota leading at halftime, 46-38, the Fighting Sioux outscored the Coyotes, 48-21, in the second half. UND shot 53.8 percent compared to 39.6 for USD. The Coyotes, who committed 25 turnovers, were also outrebounded, 40-28.
Julia Frie and Heather Nelson paced the Coyotes with 15 points apiece, and Kelly Koepp had 10 points. Melinda Oster finished with 7 points, and Dawn Sudbeck had 6 points and eight assists.
The Coyotes played North Dakota State close with a 32-24 halftime deficit. During the final 20 minutes the Bison built a double-digit lead and maintained the margin the rest of the game with the biggest being 65-46 with 4:39 left.
Frie led USD with 19 points and Nicole Jaycox tallied 13. Nelson and Amanda Iverson each had 7 points. The Coyotes shot 42.9 percent compared to 46.2 for NDSU. The Bison led in rebounds, 40-25. Nelson topped USD with six.
